Registered students of the International Piano Technicians School follow these units and their descriptions to know what to submit for their assignments. This page is free to view but if you want to to get your units marked and become certified, you must register as a student.

  1. Tune a clean and stable A4 DSU.
  2. Tuning A4
  3. Tune a pure 4:2
  4. Tuning A3A4
  5. Tuning F3F4
  6. Tuning the Skeleton
  7. Tuning D4
  8. Tuning F#3 and A#3 – Small or Unknown Scale, OR
    Tuning F#3 and A#3 – Medium Scale, OR
    Tuning F#3 and A#3 – Large Scale.
    PICK JUST ONE.
  9. Tuning the 3rd Augmented Chord – G3B3D#4
  10. Tuning the 4th Augmented Chord – G#3C4E4
  11. Tuning the Temperament
  12. Tuning the Treble – Section 1a – F#4 to A4
  13. Tuning the Treble – Section 1b – A#4/B4
  14. Tuning the Treble – Section 2a – C5 to D5
  15. Tuning the Treble – Section 2b – D#5/E5
  16. Tuning the Treble – Section 3 – F5 to B5
  17. Tuning the Treble – Section 4 – C6 to E6
  18. Tuning the Treble – Section 5 – F6 to A6
  19. Tuning the Treble – Section 6 – A#6 to C8
  20. Tuning the Bass – Section 1 – E3 down to first bichord
  21. Tuning the Bass – Section 2 – Single bass strings
  22. Complete tuning.
