Unit 20 – E3 down to 1st bichord

General Steps

  1. Check the stability of the bottom note being tuned. (Steps 1 and 2 below)
  2. Play the top note of a pure interval in the P19 or P22 set.
  3. Play the interval.
  4. Play the tests. (Except for P12)
  5. Pure intervals to be tested: 8:6 P4 (P22 set), 6:3 P8 (P19 set), P11 (P22 set), P12 (No test), P19 (P19 set), P22 (P22 set).

E3 Example:

  1. Play the note (E3) three times loud.
  2. Play the note. Let it sustain. (E3)
  3. Play the note a P4 above. (A3)
  4. Play the P4. (E3-A3)
  5. Play the 8:6 tests, m6/m3. (E3-C4 and A3-C4)
  6. Play the note a P8 above. (E4)
  7. Play the P8. (E3-E4)
  8. Play the 6:3 tests. (E3-G3 and G3-E4)
  9. Play the note a P11 above. (A4)
  10. Play the P11. (E3-A4)
  11. Play the P11 tests. (E3-C4 and C4-A4)
  12. Play the note a P12 above. (B4)
  13. Play the P12. (E3-B4)
  14. Play the note a P19 above. (B5)
  15. Play the P19. (E3-B5)
  16. Play the P19 tests. (E3-G3 and G3-B5)
  17. Play the note a P22 above. (E6)
  18. Play the P22. (E3-E6)
  19. Play the P22 tests. (E3-C4 and C4-E6)
