V.2
This unit tests your ability to tune a trichord according to PianoMeter.
The trichord must be a clean and stable unison.
Video yourself doing this unit.
Make sure we can see your hammer.
Make sure we can see the PianoMeter screen.
Do not look at PianoMeter, only at the end, when you are checking the pitch of the DSU.
- Pick a note between A3 and A4.
- Slightly flatten each string of the trichord.
- Mute one string. This creates the Double String Unison (DSU)
- Tune the other two strings, the DSU, clean.
- Measure the DSU with PianoMeter. (This is the only time you are allowed to look at PianoMeter.)
- If it is within 1 cent of PianoMeter, go to step 10. If it is not, go to step 7.
- Move one string of the DSU, in the direction you need to go to make the DSU within 1 cent of PianoMeter.
- Move the other string to make the DSU clean and stable.
- Go to step 5.
- Remove the mute.
- Tune the third string so the trichord is clean and stable.
- Play the trichord mf for 3 seconds.
- Play the trichord three times very loudly. (Stability Test)
- Play the trichord mf for 3 seconds.
